Sunday 17th August – Welcome Reception
A Welcome Reception is being held in the evening to which all delegates are invited to attend. This coincides with the opening of the exhibition. Refreshments and a buffet supper will be provided.

Monday 18th August – Drinks Reception

There is a Drinks Reception on Monday 18th August alongside the Poster Viewing Session 1. Refreshments and a buffet supper will be provided.
Tower Bridge Wednesday 20th August – Coach transfers into Central London

Coaches will be arranged to transfer delegates and accompanying persons into the centre of London on Wednesday 20th August to allow delegates to explore the city
at their leisure or book one of the walking tours. Coaches will depart from Brunel University at 13.00 hours and return in the evening. Coaches will drop-off and pick-up at a central point.

Wednesday 20th August – Walking Tours, Central London
Upon arrival in Central London, there is the option to go on a guided walking tour. Two walking tours will take place: The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. The tours will take place at the same time so you can only book a place on one tour. Places are limited are on both tours so if you would like to book a place, please indicate the number of tickets you require on the registration and accommodation booking form.

The Houses of Parliament

Houses of Parliament The Houses of Parliament, also known as The Palace of Westminster, is not only the home of the UK Parliament, it is also a royal palace and former residence of great kings. This impressive Gothic Palace was built in the late 19th century by Sir Charles Barry to replace the original ancient buildings, which were almost completely destroyed by fire in 1834.

The walking tour of The Houses of Parliament lasts 75 minutes.
Westminster Abbey
The Abbey was built and rebuilt over at least 1000 years with royal subsidy and patronage. It has been the place of coronation of Kings and Queens since 1066 and for other royal events such as weddings and funerals (Princess Diana in 1997 and the Queen Mother in 2002). The Abbey contains 3300 known burials of famous people with many spectacular tomb monuments and sculptures. You will see some of the best known - royals, poets, actors, politicians, scientists, musicians...

The walking tour of Westminster Abbey lasts 1 hour.

Thursday 21st August – Conference Dinner

The Conference Dinner is being held on Thursday 21st August at the famous home of international rugby, Twickenham Stadium. Coach transfers to and from Brunel University will also be provided.

Invited conference dinner guest speaker:
ColinPillinger C.B.E., F.R.S. will talk on the highs and lows of space exploration over the last fifty years, forty of which he has been personally in. His talk will be profusely illustrated with newspaper and magazine cartoons from all around te world taken from Professor Pillinger's new book "Space is a funny place" produced in conjunction with the Cartoon Museum and with the help of over 200 international known cartoonists.

The return journey is £10.00 per person.

Tickets cost £15.00 person including VAT. Please note that cancelled tickets cannot be refunded.

Westminster Abbey
Tickets cost £20.00 person including VAT. Please note that cancelled tickets cannot be refunded.

Conference Dinner
Tickets cost £50.00 including VAT for a 3-course menu with wine, beer, soft drinks and after dinner entertainment. Please note that cancelled tickets cannot be refunded.

Social events are open to delegates and accompanying persons.

Tickets will be available to purchase on the Registration/Accommodation Form which will be included in the Main Announcement and Call for Abstracts that will be available shortly.
